About the trainer:
I have been babywearing since 2010 when my eldest was born, and carried all four of my children since. I was apart of Derby Babywearers group offering informal help until there was a need for something more in the area. By this point I had a personal selection of slings and carriers that people wanted to borrow from one meet to the next and I realised there was a need for a Sling Library in Derby.
I then attended training with School of Babywearing to further my knowledge and gain a formal certification. I then ran the Library while gaining more experience and knowledge in the field. I also then trained with Slingababy to further my knowledge and teaching skills. I have now combined 2 large Sling Libraries Derby with Nottingham and created Derby and Nottingham Sling Library, running up to 12 meets a month, social meets, workshops 1 to 1 consultations as well as postal hires. I have attended a wide selection of continual professional development sessions ran by a variety of trainers.
I have ran a continual professional development session for Slingababy at the Midlands Baby Carrying Convention, talking about the benefits of babywearing for dads. As well as running similar sessions at other national baby carrying events for parents. I have also attended a specific baby carrying and feeding course, this now makes me the only male certified baby carrying consultant that has specific feeding in a sling training.
I have realised that there is a need for training courses to be easily available in the midlands after I have now been asked if I can train people to be baby carrying peer supporters.
I have developed three courses to cover all the needs that have been brought to my attention.
Baby Carrying Peer Supporter (1 day)
Baby Carrying Advanced Peer Supporter (2 day)
Baby Carrying Advocate NHS or Nursery worker Training (1/2 day)
